HANOVER, Ontario – Ontario-based wood products companies may be entitled to financial rebates through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s (WSIB) Health & Safety Excellence Program (HSEP).
James Ebidia, president of Proactive Health and Safety Solutions Inc., will discuss eligibility requirements for the WSIB HSEP Small Business Initiative in a May 24 webinar hosted by the Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario. The webinar was originally scheduled to take place May 10.
From now until December 2024, businesses with fewer than 100 full-time employees can earn double the health and safety rebates, plus an additional $1,000 for starting a new health and safety plan. As a result, a small wood products firm that normally would be limited to qualifying for up to $4,000 in rebates could earn up to $9,000 for their health and safety plan.
In addition to learning about how to maximize the rebate, the webinar will discuss how to become an HSEP member.
The webinar will be held via Zoom from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, May 24.
Ebidia recently authored an article for Woodworking Network: "Make Safety a Habit: Building a Culture of Safety in Your Woodworking Shop."
