MARKHAM, ON — The Rainforest Alliance’s SmartWood Program has granted particleboard and MDF manufacturer Flakeboard’s Bennettsville, SC, particleboard plant certification to its Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) Chain–of-Custody (COC) and Controlled Wood (CW) standards. The company’s multi-site certification applies to Bennettsville MDF and particleboard, and includes thermally fused melamine finished products. All Flakeboard products are currently EPP certified and CARB Phase 1 compliant as well.

“This certification is an important step towards fully achieving our best practices goals with wood management,” said T.J. Rosengarth, vice president and COO. “FSC accreditation for particleboard and melamine finished panels is an important added benefit for our customers and demonstrates our continued support for the industry’s leading environmental programs.”
