LAVAL, QC -
Plans are proceeding for the
Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvré
, Oct. 21-23, in Laval, QC, and Vance Communications Canada, owner of the show, is reaching out to exhibitors and attendees for their feedback to create an event that serves the unique needs of the Quebec wood products market.
“We are talking to several of the larger players in the market to see how we can all work together to best meet the needs of the market, and will keep exhibitors and attendees current as the situation develops,” said Steve Reiss, Vice President of Vance Communications Canada LLC.
Recently, the Canadian Woodworking Machinery Distributors Assn. announced that it would not renew its sponsorship of SIBO and that its seven members do not plan to exhibit at the show.
“This is clearly a very difficult year for woodworkers and their suppliers,” Reiss said. “For some companies, the cost of displaying large machinery at a trade show has become fairly prohibitive at this time.
“Given this environment, we understand the CWMDA’s decision,” Reiss added. “We also understand that a strong local trade event is in the best interests of the Quebec woodworking industry -- especially in these difficult times -- by providing a marketplace, education and face-to-face contact. We are committed to exploring all options to work with CWMDA and other members of the industry to be active members of the woodworking community.”
