ANCA announces Tech Days open house

ANCA announces Technology Days open house at its Wixom, Michigan, facility. The event is scheduled for May 9 and 10, 2023. Visitors will see world-first nanometer grinding technology in action as well as live demonstrations showcasing technologies to future-proof cutting tool production At its Technology Days, ANCA will have live machine demonstrations, break-out sessions and presentations hosted by expert engineers, and plenty of networking opportunities.

Women in woodworking honored with 2023 Women MAKE America awards

Women in the wood products industry are making an impact whether they work in the C-suite or on the production floor. Recently, efforts by two leaders in the wood products arena were honored with the 2023 Women MAKE America awards presented by the Manufacturing Institute. Christine Marvin of Marvin Windows and Doors and Leigh Ann Richardson of Koppers, an integrated global provider of treated wood products, wood treatment chemicals, and carbon compounds, were two of 127 other women across the country in receiving this distinction.

Ancient Elm tree reborn

Holland, Michigan, has been a woodworking community for more than a century, going back to at least the mid-1800s, and sharing much of that history was the Rock Elm tree that spent its last years in the city’s popular Centennial Park. When it was time to take down the 150-year-old elm tree, the city’s parks and recreation department began thinking of new and creative ways to use the wood. Deputy Parks Director Jamie Scott suggested a partnership with the Holland Bowl Mill, a company with roots back nearly a century.

Groundbreaking ceremony at C.R. Onsrud headquarters

TROUTMAN, N.C. -- C.R. Onsrud, a family-owned Machinery manufacturing company, broke ground on March 1 for the construction of a new 67,000-square-foot building. This addition will bring the C.R. Onsrud manufacturing campus up to 225,000 square feet. The company says the new construction will house production of their larger machines that are in demand, as well as additional offices.
