Wellborn Cabinet to add 200 jobs, invest $15 million in expansion

ASHLAND, Ala. - Wellborn Cabinet will add 105,000 square feet of space to its facility in Ashland, Alabama.

The $15 million investment will create 200 new jobs.

Set to complete next year, the expansion will boost the Ashland site up to more than 2 million square feet. The increased space will allow for a new painting facility and planer mill.

It will also allow for greater daycare and healthcare capabilities for employees.

“With the help of our local, state, and federal officials along with our local schools, we’ve been blessed with the ability to have this expansion and have the opportunity to add these jobs to our economy,” said Paul Wellborn, the company’s CEO and president. “I thank God for all the people who’ve played a part in growing our American-made product. We are especially thankful for all of our dedicated employees who have help make all of this possible.”

Wellborn is one of the largest cabinetmakers in North America, coming in at number 65 on the FDMC 300 list of biggest woodworking companies.

The company runs three manufacturing plants - two in Alabama and one in Utah - and saw an estimated $150 million in sales in 2020. Wellborn employs upwards of 1,300 workers.
