Software speaker added to CNC Bootcamp
Edward Powell from Vectric Ltd.

Edward Powell is the managing director of Vectric Ltd., a global software company for CNC manufacturing.

What CNC woodworking can do seems to expand every day, so the CNC Bootcamp program at the AWFS Fair has expanded its presentation on software for CNC to reflect that.

The CNC Bootcamp is a daylong program slated for Monday, July 24, the day before the AWFS Fair trade show floor officially open to the public. The CNC Bootcamp is designed for professional woodworkers new to CNC woodworking or who are just considering getting into CNC Woodworking.

One important segment of the program deals with software for CNC. Previously scheduled speaker Ken Frye from KCD Software will talk on software applications for cabinets, closets, and similar production panel processing applications. Newly added to the program, Edward Powell, managing director of Vectric Ltd., a global software company headquartered in the U.K., will talk about many other applications that can either expand the reach of your existing CNC or offer exciting entry points into the world of CNC woodworking.

Vectric, which creates a range of high quality apps and software that unlock the power of industrial-grade computer controlled machining (CNC) for woodworkers, small businesses, home hobbyists and creative professionals.

Powell has worked in the woodworking sector for more than 20 years and his fascination with the technical aspects of CNC coupled with his passion to help make CNC easy to use and accessible for all continually drives the development of Vectric’s products.

In his presentation he will take CNC Bootcamp attendees on a tour of the latest software technology, tools and techniques to show how the combination of power and simplicity lets you efficiently create and customize furniture designs, view a 3D simulation, and create accurate toolpaths ready to drive your CNC to accurately and efficiently cut your parts.

This will include applications going beyond cabinet parts into things such as carving signs, customizing and personalizing projects, and other applications.

The CNC Bootcamp is presented by Woodworking Network and FDMC magazine and is sponsored by Laguna Tools, Lobo/Castaly, and KCD Software.
