3 benefits of acrylic edgebanding
Panefri

Acrylic edgebanding ticks a lot of boxes and is often the go-to plastic edging for a huge range of panels and applications. It is versatile and hard-wearing, resisting scuffs and scratches, making it a very popular choice in the kitchen, bathroom and office furniture industries.

Here are a few of the benefits of acrylic edgebanding:

1. Range of patterns and colors. Acrylic edging is offered in a wide array of colors and patterns including wood, metallic and stone effects, with a brilliant translucency. You can achieve the look of premium materials like granite and solid wood, without the excessive cost, unnecessary weight and time-consuming maintenance.

2. 3D effect. A unique property of acrylic edgebanding is the ability to produce a 3D effect. It’s achieved by printing the pattern on the underlayer of the edging rather than the surface, with a clear layer of acrylic over the top.

3. Durability of the material. Acrylic is a high-grade thermoplastic polymer, also known as PMMA, or polymethylmethacrylate (try saying that three times fast). PMMA is often used as a lightweight and shatterproof alternative to glass. It can be colored,  cut, drilled, and formed. These qualities, and the fact that it’s extremely tough, make it very useful for skylights, car headlights, outdoor signs, and other applications.

In summary, acrylic edgebanding's versatility, design flexibility, and durability make it a great choice for a range of applications.
