Heartwood Custom Woodworks in Eagle, Colorado, made this ski resort bar, the best overall winner.

CHICAGO -- The Cabinet Makers Association announced its 2020 Wood Diamond Award winners on August 27 during a virtual awards ceremony. The presentation usually takes place at the International Woodworking Fair or the AWFS Fair on odd years, but IWF 2020 was cancelled  due to Covid‐19.

The awards were created to recognize the fine work and craftsmanship of CMA member shops and marked their 10th anniversary this year. The program has given the organization an opportunity to promote excellence in the industry, and the winners can share these honors as part of their marketing efforts.

Winners are chosen by their peers in the organization; the judging panel is comprised of CMA members who did not submit their work in the competition.

The 2020 “Best Of, Best Overall” project was awarded to Heartwood Custom Woodworks (Eagle, Colorado) for  a unique bar is created at a ski resort.

“This wonderful radius bar is a unique way for people to have a  conversation with everyone sitting and indulging in a glass of their favorite drink while telling stories of their adventures on the slope,” the company’s general manager, Grant Goddard, explained. “The design of this project pushes the elements of rectilinear and organic curves in a harmonious way.”

First‐place winners received a customized wood diamond‐shaped plaque, and those recipients are  recognized by category below.
