ACSP update: Curate, cultivate and educate
By Christina Relyea

If you’re holding this copy of Closets & Organized Storage in your hands (or reading digitally), you’re obviously interested in what’s going on in the home storage industry. Thought-provoking articles, features on best-in-class companies (Diplomat Closet Design), and trade show recaps and previews make this a must-read to curate your industry knowledge. Regardless of your role, there’s something for everyone cover to cover!

We’re headed into trade show season. There is no getting around the fact that trade shows can be costly, not only monetarily but also time wise. But consider the alternative: Can you risk the cost of not attending? What’s the financial impact of not discovering an easier way of doing things or a product that could save or even prevent headaches?

Have you signed up for Closets Conference & Expo yet? It’s the ONLY national event for closets and home organization. This is where you go to cultivate all things closets! April 12-14, vendors, fabricators, designers, and installers will converge upon West Palm Beach, Florida, ready to learn, share, and network. The event has grown year after year, with new suppliers in attendance featuring solutions you may not have thought of. Show floor activities include live machinery demos, interviews, speakers, and podcasts.

The Closets Educational Conference, co-sponsored by ACSP, has some exceptional topics planned this year, including trends in modern design, workforce advice, digital marketing, contracts, and plant tours. We also have focused discussions for designers and an installer clinic. While you’re at the show, you can also get certified! The ACSP is administering certification tests for designers and installers during the show at a significantly discounted rate. I look forward to connecting with you in person at this important industry event. If you see me out and about or attend my panel presentation on trends, make sure to stop and say hello!

The ACSP will also be exhibiting at the AWFS Fair in Las Vegas, July 25-28. The show includes a special closet symposium the day before the exhibits open, plus other valuable education sessions during the event.

According to ASID’s 2023 Trends Report, health and wellness continues to be a top priority in both residential and commercial markets. At no other time has such a focus been placed on addressing some of the most significant societal challenges facing us today. Consumers want to focus on sustainability and environments that are more suitable and supportive in reducing environmental stressors.

They also want a versatile environment that looks similar to their favorite influencer. I urge you to get involved to educate yourself on these topics, either by coming to a conference or joining a group such as ACSP. The ACSP serves the full range of the home storage industry through programs, advocacy, and networking. As my friend and former ACSP president Wendy Scott likes to say: “You get out of it what you put into it.” Get involved and help us move the needle forward!
