Lisa Adams, the founder of LA Closet Design and a celebrity closet designer, is well-known for creating practical and highly stylish luxury spaces for a clientele that includes Hollywood A-listers and other high-profile individuals. 

One of her recent projects was a thoughtfully designed dressing room in a modern condominium in Nashville, Tennessee. The pragmatic yet stylish dressing room was tailored to the needs of its owners — a couple seeking functionality without sacrificing aesthetics.

The project’s goal was clear, Adams says: Create a space that met the diverse needs of the homeowners without leaning too heavily towards feminine or masculine design. To achieve this, the design team focused on practicality and balance.
The room’s centerpiece was a long peninsula, dividing it into distinct “HIS” and “HER” areas. Crafted from painted and natural wood finishes, this central element allowed everyone to organize their belongings easily.

The closet's design balanced modern and transitional styles. Warm wood tones softened clean lines and minimalistic millwork, creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance. The color palette remained neutral, with white satin-painted finishes, stained oak, and white marble countertops.

Lighting played a crucial role in enhancing the room’s ambiance and functionality. Low-voltage LED fixtures illuminated the shelves, ensuring every article of clothing was visible. A decorative lighting fixture added brightness, while cabinetry lighting improved usability.

The island was a versatile workspace with a clean white marble countertop perfect for packing or folding clothes. Flanking the island were vertical pull-out cabinets, offering ample storage solutions such as shoe racks and laundry compartments.

Custom-designed closet rods made of polished nickel were strategically placed around the perimeter, maximizing space without sacrificing stability. Glass dividers within the shelves maintained organization and prevented damage to accessories.

The drawers featured translucent frosted glass fronts, allowing for easy identification of contents. The sleek tab pulls in polished chrome added a touch of modernity to the overall design.
