Richelieu and transFORM team up to show what's next in design

Last week Richelieu partnered with transFORM to participate in the New York Design Center’s 9th annual What’s New What’s Next event.  This is the most anticipated interior design event of the season with over 80 participating showrooms featuring the latest ideas, materials and products.

When it comes to what’s new and what’s next one of the hottest design trends is  “Micro Living and the Evolution of the Multifunctional Space”

Richelieu is the leader in this space – all 350 square feet of it…

We offer a product line that allows architects and builders to maximize every inch, while allowing designers to make it a place that people want to entertain in.

Micro living and multifunctional space becomes very exciting when you take those solutions and apply them to overall design.  Give a homeowner a more functional home without having to add an addition and watch how quickly your conversation changes from a price negotiation to what else can you do for them.

The sleeping area has the biggest impact on the micro living space.  You need the ability to create bed, sofa, desk and wall unit combinations.  These aren’t your parent’s murphy beds that ensured visitors didn’t stay too long.

This is the new generation of folding bed systems that are designed with pistons for easy and safe opening and closing.   They are designed with wood slats and can accommodate a 12” mattress – made for every night sleeping.

Other products include our offering of pull out tables that can be a place to eat or prep food in the kitchen, a folding table in a laundry room, a place to pack your suitcase in a closet or a desk in the family room.   My favorites are Naxo of Cheo.

Living in a micro unit is great but can you entertain?

You sure can with these adaptable furniture pieces.  Here are the newest tables to hit the US market – Okey Dokey, Falco, and Butterfly.  These tables magically transform to create that seating for 6.

What about the closets?

Our Vertiko floating shelf hardware is great for room dividers and keeping with the design of micro.  We also have rotating shoe shelves, and clothing organizer that can put 10’ of clothing in a 5’ x 30” space.

Bella Systems revolving shoe rack

Royal Cabinets rotating clothing rack.
