MONTREAL – What was once a typical triplex in the central district of Montreal is now a single-family residence that blends past and present in an innovative manner.

Architectural firm Maurice Martel of Montreal created the design for the conversion. Four area wood products manufacturers each had important roles in the project.

The centerpiece of the transformation is a distinctive staircase custom made by Davibois. Designed as a sculptural element, the staircase unfolds across the floors. It invites visitors to vertically explore the space, highlighting the transition between different eras that have marked the site.

The open kitchen is not only designed to meet culinary needs, but also promote sociability. Crafted by Cuisines Steam, the large, bright kitchen marries white oak with raw stainless steel. The result is a warm and fully functional cooking space.

Élément Bois crafted custom woodwork throughout the 1,400-square-foot home while Luxio Doors supplied interior doors.
