ROCKWOOD, Ontario — Bunke Life, a manufacturer of compact and versatile living spaces, is dedicated to thoughtful design and craftsmanship. Founded to create functional small buildings, Bunkie Life offers structures that serve as guest houses, home offices, studios, or personal retreats. These bunkies are designed to maximize space and provide a practical solution for those seeking additional living areas without extensive renovations.

“It’s a pre-cut wooden Lego kit that can be set up in one weekend,” says founder David Fraser. “It provides extra room at your cottage or your backyard – we even have clients that live in them full time. Off the shelf, a client should get 3.5 seasons out of it. With insulation, about 4 seasons.”

Fraser said he came up with the idea in 2015 when his parents came to visit and didn’t have the extra space. Since then, bunkies from Bunkie Life have sold across the country.

The Tiny House movement is going strong in the U.S. as well, moving from pop culture to the mainstream over the past few years as evidenced by the growing number of TV shows dedicated to the trend, including FYI TV's "Tiny House Nation" and a couple of HGTV shows like "Tiny House Builders" and "Tiny House Hunters."

It’s clear that the movement is no longer just a novelty. The primary reasons people want to own a small home are what will continue to drive the movement into the future. The main motivations for tiny house ownership seem to be (1) less costly to buy/build (2) less expensive to live in and maintain, and (3) to build a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle.
