LAS VEGAS - The Cabinet Makers Association (CMA) announced the winners of its 13th annual Wood Diamond Awards contest on Wednesday, July 26, at a member appreciation reception during AWFS Fair held in Las Vegas, July 25-28.

The Best of, Best Overall award went to Bob Gillpatrick of Gillpatrick Woodworks (Overland Park, KS) for a face frame kitchen that was part of a whole house renovation. Gillpatrick said, “It was a total redesign, yet the homeowners wanted the kitchen to feel as if it was always there.”

The homeowners were a chef and interior designer and the kitchen renovation the kitchen was fitted with all the interior tailoring to fit the Chef's needs and all of the details a designer would appreciate, including a custom arched opening detailed to match other millwork in the home and painted the color of the house trim, flush inset cabinetry made of Rift White Oak finished with a “Cerused” technique, and cabinet doors which were custom designed with a unique applied moulding designed for this project to reflect other details in the home
