SASKATOON, SK- Superior Cabinets' Fusion Finishes on MDF have been selected as the winner for the Best of KBIS – People’s Choice Award in the kitchen category.  Held in January, the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) marked the U.S. debut of the Fusion Finishes line of cabinetry.

“This is such an honor to have been selected as the Best of KBIS – People’s Choice winner,” said Scott Hodson, president & CEO of Superior Cabinets.  “We know our Fusion Finishes are one of a kind, but to be nominated and voted on by our industry peers and community truly validates that we have created something special here.”

Superior Cabinets launched the Fusion Finishes line of cabinets in Canada in 2010. “We were looking for an alternative to thermofoil to accommodate the ever-growing multi-unit segment of the business,” said Adam Taman, Business Development manager of Superior Cabinets.  “The team started to experiment with stain on medium density fiberboard (MDF), and the results were nothing short of phenomenal.”

The company said the popularity of its Fusion Finishes has grown significantly, and they are a top seller at the company, comprising 50 percent of sales. In addition to the People's Choice Award, Fusion Finishes won the ABEX award for Innovation in 2013.

Superior Cabinets said plans call to expand the color offerings.  The company said it will also be expanding its sales footprint by creating a network of sales representatives in new markets. Founded in 1980, Superior Cabinets manufactures and supplies frameless kitchen cabinetry in a 55,000-square-foot production facility in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The company sells its products through  retail stores in Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary and Edmonton, as well as through a network of 75 dealers.

Superior Cabinets was also recently named Saskatchewan Manufacturer of the Year by the Canadian Manufacturing & Exporters. The award recognizes outstanding manufacturers that have made invaluable contributions to innovation, leadership, export, and manufacturing practices.

Public voting for the People's Choice Award took place from Jan. 23-31. Announced Feb. 1, two winners, one each in the kitchen and bath categories, were selected from 10 finalists, out of 89 initial entries. NatureKast Weatherproof Cabinetry's Your Dream Outdoor Shower was named the winner in the bath category.
