Altendorf to demo Hand Guard table saw at Wood Pro and Closets Expos
Altendorf saw safety system

Hand Guard was developed to detect a potentially dangerous situation before any contact is made with the saw blade.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Altendorf’s multi award-winning Hand Guard sliding table saw will be featured in the Running Machine Demonstrations at Wood Pro Expo Florida and the Closets Expo, April 13-14 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

Harn Guard recently won a World Technology Leader Award for its AI–controlled safety assistance system. It was the latest in a string of awards that the Altendorf Hand Guard has received.

According to Altendorf, Hand Guard was developed to detect a potentially dangerous situation before any contact is made with the saw blade. The early-recognition system incorporates a pair of cameras that the company says can bring a 400mm saw blade spinning at about 5,000 rpm to a standstill in a fraction of a second if the operator’s fingers advance too close to the blade. What’s more, downtime is eliminated because the saw can resume work immediately after an incident occurs.
