Local students visit Osborne Wood Products on Industry Tour Day

TOCCOA, GA — Osborne Wood Products recently had the privilege of being part of the 2024 Stephens County Discovery Tour. Featuring staff members from Stephens County Middle and High School, the tour seeks to connect the classroom to local industry leaders to better prepare students for future job opportunities. The tour consists of a behind-the-scenes look at several local companies and usually lasts an entire day. It is an incredible hands-on learning opportunity for local teachers and administrators.

Osborne has hosted events like this before; most recently, the Stephens County Development Authority hosted more than forty middle and high school students in the spring and fall of 2023 to "Connect Classrooms to Careers"

Osborne was one of the 2024 tour locations. Upon arriving at Osborne, participants shared a lunch and then received a guided tour through several departments. They learned the mission and vision of the company, as well as what day-to-day tasks look like for various employees. When asked about the success of the tour, CEO Jeremy McClain stated, "We are thankful for the educators who took the time to come out and understand our business and the opportunities available at Osborne Wood Products.".

Osborne is committed to investing in our local education systems to show students the many career opportunities available within our community. Current college and high school interns at Osborne were also able to participate in the tour, leading groups of attendees throughout the facility. It was a wonderful learning experience for all involved!
