WARREN, Mich. - It's got all the makings of a picture-perfect business relationship. Internationally famous fashion photographer and reality TV personality Nigel Barker has paired with America's largest independent furniture retailer on a new collection of residential furnishings. The Nigel Barker Collection, which includes living room, dining room and bedroom furniture, debuts Oct. 1.

"Fashion is not one-dimensional, but rather a multifaceted industry infused with personal style statements that take on many forms," Barker said. "Through my travels, I was inspired by cultural elements of the countries I have had the privilege to visit, and knew that I wanted to bring that rich design aesthetic to life in this exclusive furniture collection for Art Van Furniture."

The Nigel Barker Collection features more than 40 furniture SKUs plus a host of accessory items, and includes canopy and sleigh beds, sectional sofas, and parquet dining and pedestal tables. According to Diane Charles, vice president of corporate communications for Art Van Furniture, the sectional sofas are manufactured by Bernhardt Furniture in North Carolina. The case goods are produced overseas.

From the Nigel Barker Wilton Bed Collection, the mid-priced traditional bedroom grouping comes with two bed options.

This is not the first collaboration between the celebrity photographer and furniture retailers. Barker previously photographed Art Van's 2014 Spring Style catalog and helped launch the company's Supermodel Search contest, a subject Barker is well familiar with having served 17 seasons as  photographer and judge on the reality TV show, American's Next Top Model and hosting Oxygen Network's modeling competition series, The Face. In addition, Barker is the author of "The Beauty Equation" and the New York Times Best Seller "Models of Influence," and currently serves as the host of SiriusXM's Gentleman's Code as well as Top Photographer, a  digital competition series with Adorama TV on YouTube.

The Nigel Barker Furniture Collection launches Oct. 1, with an “Evening of Global Style” party set for Oct. 6 at Art Van's Chicago area store.

According to the company, Art Van Furniture operates more than 100 stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa, including freestanding Art Van PureSleep mattress stores, Art Van Flooring stores, and Art Van Furniture franchise locations, as well as a full service e-commerce website. The family-owned company was founded in 1959 and is headquartered in Warren, Michigan.
