Riverside Tool says its SuperSand profile sanding tooling addresses a need for a sanding head doesn’t deflect when pressure is applied, requiring constant operator intervention.
Riverside Tool’s SuperSand is a patent-pending sanding head featuring a profile foam ring and a rubberized abrasive, which allow the abrasive to push into the wood part and not deflect with pressure. Available in both edge detail and raised panel versions, it provides panels with a hand-sanded look and feel, but with industrial efficiency. SuperSand is a 2016 IWF Challengers award finalist.
Riverside Tool’s head can be used on a moulder, shape and sander double-end tenor, and on most machines with a drive system and spindle. A solid 5-axis aircraft-grade aluminum body allows for long life and high resistance to wear. SuperSand features a durable rubberized abrasive, dual rotation, multiple abrasive grit options, and multi-profile capability.
The innovative aspects of SuperSand are its foam core and rubberized abrasives, which allow the abrasive to push into the wood part and not deflect when pressure is applied. Traditional abrasive wheels aren’t efficient, says Riverside, because they wear with use – forcing machine operators to move the wheel further into the wood part and increasing set up time. SuperSand allows a machine set up operator to get uniform, equally distributed sanding.
