Montreal, QC – EACOM Timber Corp. has sole ownership of engineered wood producer Anthony-EACOM following the purchase of outstanding shares from Canfor Corp.
Anthony-EACOM manufactures and distributes Power Joist® solid flange I-joists, which are used in floor and roof applications. The company had been a 50/50 joint venture between EACOM and Canfor (TSX:CFP), which acquired the shares when it purchased Anthony Forest Products in 2015.
Anthony-EACOM's engineered wood mill is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where EACOM also owns five softwood lumber mills. ‘‘We have had great partnerships with Anthony Forest Products and later Canfor to operate Anthony-EACOM.’’ said Kevin Edgson, president and CEO of EACOM. “It’s now important for EACOM to secure assets that will contribute to the company’s resilience and this acquisition is part of EACOM’s growth strategy.”
The company said the change in ownership will result in the transfer of more than 50 employees to EACOM's management.
Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Montreal, EACOM Timber Corp. manufactures and distributes lumber and wood-based value-added products. EACOM currently owns seven sawmills, five in Ontario and two in Quebec, with an annual capacity of more than 900 million board feet, according to company information. It also owns an engineered wood mill in Ontario, and a remanufacturing facility in Quebec and has more than 1,100 employees.
