WMCO slates March 29 Applying Lean in the Office webinar

HANOVER, Ontario – Implementing a lean work environment and reducing waste is not limited to the production floor.

Studies indicate that non-value activities in the office can consume up to 300 minutes a day or approximately 75% of the work day. Time wasters include: interruptions by phone, email and people; missing information; rework; and inefficient meetings.

Against this backdrop, the Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario will host a full-day online educational program on March 29, Applying Lean in the Office – Using Value Stream Mapping. The focus of the presentation is showing businesses how to eliminate waste and do more, faster with the resources they already have.

The program, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., will be instructed by Sheri Phillips, senior consultant of Lean Advisors. She is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt + Change Management with more than 20 years of experience as a strategic senior lean, project management and change management consultant. 

The session will include:

  • Types of waste in the office·
  • Lean principles
  • What to expect from applying the lean principles
  • Practical exercises to asses lean in the office
  • Break-out sessions: Group activities assessing Lean in the Office examples applying lean principles
