EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. — 84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held building materials supplier, has opened a new component plant in Winter Haven, Florida, which will become the company’s primary component plant in Florida. The plant will officially open its doors for operation by the end of January 2024.

The company said that the company plans to continue expanding across the country, and that component plants are top of mind. Florida has historically been a strong market for 84 Lumber and the component element will remain a priority moving forward. This location will not only generate new business but will also offer customers increased service options, said Ken Kucera, 84 Lumber vice president of installed sales and manufacturing.

“Florida is an area where we are targeting immense growth,” said Kucera. “Opening this new component plant has already proven to be a great success and we expect to keep the momentum going. This new facility will allow us the capacity to not only keep up with market demands but also expand our customer base.”

The 80,000-square-foot facility features new, state-of-the-art roof and floor truss building equipment and will employ a staff of more than 80. The plant will cover the central Florida market, including Tampa and Orlando, as well as the surrounding areas.

“This is an exciting time in Winter Haven,” said Jim McMahon, general manager of the Winter Haven plant. “This area has seen dramatic economic growth in recent years. The opening of this plant shows that 84 Lumber remains dedicated to our pursuit of meeting customer demands. We are excited for what’s to come in the community as we open this new facility.”

In addition to this new truss plant, 84 Lumber recently opened truss plants near Atlanta, and in Columbia, South Carolina; a new door shop in Denver; and is opening new stores in California.
