RESTON, Va. - Cabinet sales rose slightly, 0.3% in November compared to the previous year's figures, marking another month of year-over-year growth for the industry. According to participating members in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's monthly Trend of Business Survey, stock sales were up 7.4% and custom sales rose 2.2%, while semi-custom decreased significantly, down 8.1% compared to the same period in 2017.
Although sales dropped 9.4% compared to October figures, year-to-date cabinetry sales through November are up 2.1%. Stock sales are up 4.7% and custom sales have increased 4.6% year-to-date, however semi-custom sales continue to trend downward, showing a drop of 1.5%.
The KCMA Trend of Business Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 70% of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA says 63% of its cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry.
KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. The association has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
