CITY Furniture completes 1.4 million square foot distribution facility

CITY Furniture, a family-owned American furniture and mattress retailer, and fine upholstery furniture manufacturer, has completed a nearly 1.4 million square foot distribution facility and showroom.

TAMARAC, Fla. — CITY Furniture, a family-owned American furniture and mattress retailer, and fine upholstery furniture manufacturer, along with its construction partner, ARCO National Construction, has completed a nearly 1.4 million square foot distribution facility and showroom in Plant City, Florida. The 87-acre development includes more than 1 million square feet of warehouse space, as well as a nearly 200,000 million square foot, two-story showroom making it one of the largest furniture destinations in the state. 

Additionally, the project is expected to bring approximately 500 new jobs to the local market which are expected to pay higher than average wages for the Plant City area, as well as offer benefits. ARCO and CITY Furniture are also working together to earn LEED certification for the building. Energy-efficient features include LED lighting throughout the warehouse and showroom, a solar-ready design, and electric vehicle parking spaces to be utilized by customers and the community. The project also includes an onsite compressed natural gas filling station which CITY Furniture will utilize for its fleet of delivery trucks.

The development also features a 39’ clear height, 226 dock positions, two escalators, two material lifts, uninsulated tilt-up construction at the warehouse, and insulated tilt-up construction at the showroom.

This is the second project ARCO and CITY Furniture have partnered on, previously completing a 250,000 SF distribution facility and showroom in Ocoee, Florida.
