HON awarded Navy furnishings contractMUSCATINE, IA — Furnishings and office systems manufacture HON Co. unit says it has been awarded a five-year blanket purchase agreement  by the U.S. Navy to supply office furniture, systems and workstations at all U.S. naval bases. The agreement is effective June 1.

Jean Reynolds, HON’s VP of strategic development for government markets, said this makes HON the only commercial manufacturer authorized to sell to the Department of the Navy in five furniture categories, and in all 50 U.S. states as well as Puerto Rico, Guam and elsewhere there are Navy facilities.

HON, a unit of HNI, was first awarded a Navy blanket purchase agreement over three years ago. “This latest award gives HON a competitive advantage in the market," says Reynolds."

Furniture categories designated in the new contract include: furniture systems and workstation clusters; worksurfaces, workstations, computer furniture and accessories; filing and storage cabinets; executive office furniture; and multipurpose seating. A number of HON’s products are level2 certified under the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard
