New executive director to join NBMDA

CHICAGO — The North American Building Material Distribution Association (NBMDA) has announced that after a comprehensive search process, they are excited to welcome Michael Wilbur as the incoming executive director.

Based in Washington, D.C., Wilbur has spent his career bringing together professional communities through trade associations, most recently serving as the vice president of engagement for the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). His leadership in recruitment, engagement, and strategic marketing helped grow the association and strengthen its position in the transportation industry as an effective advocate for its members.

Wilbur will begin serving as the NBMDA executive director effective July 1; Kevin Gammonley will officially retire after 33 years of management on said date.

NBMDA represents a growing network of distributors and suppliers dedicated to pursuing the association's mission of developing and promoting the effectiveness of distribution processes to improve member profitability and growth. Through strategic partnerships, NBMDA provides members valuable opportunities to connect with fellow distribution leaders, distribution-specific training, and channel research.

When asked to comment, Gammonley shared, “I couldn't be more excited to introduce Michael to our community of building material distribution executives! It’s been an honor to serve our members and help shepherd the association’s growth for the past three decades. We have an incredible team in place, and I'm confident that our members will experience a seamless transition with the valuable networking and educational opportunities they have come to expect from NBMDA."

Wilbur added, “I am excited to join this impressive community and leverage the broad expertise of our members. NBMDA has seen significant success throughout Kevin’s tenure. I look forward to building on that legacy and working alongside the Board to deepen member engagement and further solidify NBMDA as the premier trade association for the building material distribution channel.”

Both Gammonley and Wilbur will attend the International Woodworking Fair, held in Atlanta August 6-9, 2024, and will be available to meet with members of the NBMDA community in booth C2826.
