RALEIGH, NC — IMA Schelling Group, a woodworking and board industries system provider, announced that Roseburg Forest Products has selected IMA Schelling for their new state-of-the-art MDF plant in Dillard, Oregon. Roseburg has committed $700 million to manufacturing in Southern Oregon for the new Dillard MDF plants.
The company announced the investment in April 2023. The investment includes the creation of two new, state-of-the-art manufacturing plants, and technological improvements and upgrades at existing plants in rural Douglas and Coos counties.
Dillard MDF will use wood residuals from Roseburg’s local mills as well as other regional mill suppliers to manufacture standard medium-density fiberboard (MDF) panels, as well as thin high-density fiberboard (HDF), often used in cabinetry, doors, and other applications. The plant will produce panels with a thickness range from 2 mm to 28 mm.
Dillard Components will convert specialty MDF panels manufactured at Roseburg’s MDF plant in Medford, Oregon, into Armorite Trim, a finished exterior trim product for residential and shed use. Roseburg will invest roughly $50 million in this plant.
The company anticipates that both new plants will begin operations in 2025, and will employ approximately 120 people once completed.
Jurgen Huter, Sales Manager for Board Unit of IMA Schelling USA, stated: “We are very excited to be a part of this historic project with Roseburg. IMA Schelling has a well-deserved reputation for reliable, robust machines. The integrated robotic systems on the cut-to-size plant show our capabilities for integrating new technology to improve efficiency and performance.”
“We’ve had Schelling equipment in continuous operation at other locations for more than 20 years and we’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with IMA Schelling,” said Jim Salchenberg, Senior Director of Engineering and OPS Asset Management for Roseburg Forest Products.
