CORRIGAN, TX - A second worker died yesterday of injuries sustained in a supsected combustible dust explosion and fire that injured seven workers at a Georgia-Pacific plywood plant on April 26.
Kenny Morris, 58, of Lufkin died Friday morning at the John S. Dunn Sr. Burn Center, more than one month after the incident, according to the Lufkin Daily News.
A week earlier on May 30, Charles Kovar, 56, of Lufkin, who was also burned in the fire, died.
Morris, Kovar and five other workers were injured when the 25-foot tall bag house at the Georgia-Pacific plant exploded. One other employee remains in critical condition, the Daily News reported.
The newspaper also reported that G-P recently filed an unemployment claim for approximately 275 workers at the plant, which is expected to remain shut down for at least several weeks while the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration continues to investigate the cause of the explosion.
