Theodore Alexander high-end furniture acquired by Asian firm

HIGH POINT, N.C. - High-end residential furniture, lighting and accessories manufacturer Theodore Alexander Inc. has been acquired by Creative Home Furniture Co. Ltd., an Asian investment firm based in ShenZhen, Guangdong, China. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Announced Jan. 4, the acquisition includes the Theodore Alexander (TA) brand, all intellectual property, marketing networks worldwide as well as production facilities in the United States and Vietnam. A statement from Creative Home Furniture said TA's management will remain unchanged, under the leadership of CEO Harvey Dondero. TA was founded in 1996 by Paul Maitland Smith, and has its U.S. headquarters in High Point, North Carolina.

Creative Home Furniture said it will "inject additional funding and marketing networks to TA in support of growth and future acquisitions." The company's portfolio also includes the Elizabeth Oxford Creations, Jonathan Charles, Keno Bros. and Jamie Drake brands of furniture.
