Zuzana Martin of Chem-Trend dies unexpectedly

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Zuzana Martin, North American manager for Chem-Trend LP, died unexpectedly on April 7 while on business in Florida. She was 59.

Martin had a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia, and used her knowledge to make an impact in the woodworking industry. Spanning approximately 20 years, her professional work included tenures at Deurowood Produktions and Arclin. She was also active in organizations including the Composite Panel Association.   

She is survived by her husband Al, children Erik Salka (Allison), Patrik Salka (Alicia), Simona Salkova (Amber), grandchildren Lucas, Alexander, Jakub and future granddaughter, as well as her sisters Anna Ivaskova (Jozef) and Maria Drobuliakova (the late Julius), and many nieces and nephews in Slovakia. Martin was preceded in death by her parents Jozef Gaburjak and Anna Gaburjakova.

A memorial service will be held April 18 at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Charleston, South Carolina. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted online at mcalister-smith.com.
