Darryl Hogeback, Savante Wine Cellars, is a 2024 Top Shelf Design Awards finalist.

Category:
Wine Cellar

Project title:
Cherry Hills Wine Cellar

Project Description:
Tasked to build a wine cellar that would complement the exquisite interior design throughout the rest of the new home build. The clients requested a blend of functional wine storage, bourbon display, case storage, large-format bottle storage, and space for various glasses. The room would be seen. Through wide glass doors from the home's entertainment area, the wine room's detail and layout would be essential to continuing a vibrant, eclectic style with a mix of traditional and contemporary elements. Thereby reflecting the bold and adventurous personalities of the clients.

Project Construction:
By blending a mix of white oak with a natural oil finish, a colorful vintage light fixture, custom serpent brass pulls on the glass doors, and a range of other brass details from door mesh, screws, large bottle rods, hinges, and hardware. The cabinetry/racking would highlight the backdrop of white brick, burgundy painted ceiling, and black tile floor. Special emphasis was placed on creating a wood stop on the back of the doors to hold the brass mesh in place and surround each round rod finger with solid wood and eliminate a gap. Lower cabinet door panels used quartersawn white oak as an accent. Five LED lighting zones allow for a specific mood setting for entertaining.

Materials Used:
White oak solids and veneer core plywood. The finish is natural, non-VOC oil. Various brass details, custom light fixtures, and door hardware complete the look.

Equipment Used:
Standard woodworking machinery was used in the fabrication of the cabinetry. Drawings were designed using Sketchup software to provide rendered images.
