Video: Best in Wood winners show outstanding craftsmanship
LANCASTER, Pa. - Winners of the 2018 Best In Wood competition were announced during a presentation at the 2018 Wood Pro Expo. The contest, which is given annually, honors custom woodworkers for their outstanding craftsmanship.

Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, located in Lake City, Iowa, took home the 2018 Best of Show and a $500 cash prize for the project "St. Thomas Church NYC Organ Project." Commissioned to design and build a new pipe organ for the church, which was well known for its rich carvings and decorated interior designed by the architectural team of Cram and Goodhue in 1906, Dobson said it required special attention to design and execute the new organ so that it would fit into the existing setting.

The 2018 winners (see the complete list below) were selected from the following categories: architectural millwork, custom furniture, custom kitchen/bath cabinetry, residential built-ins and specialty items. All award winners and honorable mentions will be featured in FDMC magazine and on Woodworking Networks social media platforms.

Special thanks to this year's judges: Karl Forth, online editor for CCI Media; Ethan Abramson, owner and designer of Ethan Abramson; Tom Gleason, VP sales/project management HW Woodwork; and Will Sampson, editor of FDMC magazine.
