November cabinet sales up 1.8%: KCMA survey

Cabinet sales rose 1.8% in November compared to the previous year's figures, continuing the upturn recorded last month. According to participating members in the KCMA monthly Trend of Business Survey, semi-custom cabinet sales recorded the highest rise in November 2017, growing 3.7%, while custom sales rose 2.2%, and stock sales showed a minimal gain of 0.1%.

JR Automation acquires Doerfer automation systems group

HOLLAND, Mich. – Intelligent manufacturing solutions provider JR Automation has acquired the automation systems group of Doerfer Corp. The group includes Advanced Automation, Wright Industries, FSA Systemes D’Assemblage, FSA Romania, PSB Technologies and equity interests in Beijing BYJC-Fabricom Assembly Line Co., Ltd. Terms of the December acquisition were not disclosed.

Fire destroys Graf Brothers Flooring's warehouse

SOUTH SHORE, Ky. - No one was injured in the fire that destroyed Graf Brothers Flooring's 75,000-square-foot warehouse on Dec. 30. The manufacturer of rift and quartered lumber and flooring said firefighters were able to contain the fire and "save the overwhelming majority" of its South Shore, Kentucky sawmill. The company also has a flooring plant in Portsmouth, Ohio. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to local media sources.

Cabinets To Go invests $6.5 million to produce flooring

NASHVILLE – Cabinetry and flooring provider Cabinets To Go announced plans to expand flooring operations at its Lawrenceburg, Tennessee facility. The $6.5 million investment is expected to create 70 new jobs. The company said funds will be used for equipment to manufacture its new brand of engineered hardwood flooring, Robusto Floors. In addition to flooring, Cabinets To Go recently added countertops and installation services to its kitchen and bath cabinetry offerings.

Young Wood Pros competition open for entries

Entries are being accepted for the popular Young Woodworking Professionals competition, which recognizes outstanding projects and the young wood pros that created them. The free competition kicks off Young Woodworking Professionals week, Woodworking Network's salute to woodworkers ages 18-35, which takes place Jan. 8-12.
