Cefla Invests in North American Plant
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - August 6, 2008- Cefla America, a division of Cefla Group, an Italian manufacturing company based in Imola, Italy, announced plans to establish its North American headquarters in Huntersville, NC, investing more than $15.9 million and creating 90 new jobs over the next three years.

“We’re delighted to establish our North American headquarters in Huntersville, an area with superb transportation access for our customers, both international and domestic, as well as a highly educated workforce,” says Walter Favruzzo, Vice President – General Manager for Cefla America. “Huntersville made attractive sites available to us and helped us throughout the site selection process, so we know our customers and employees will have a great experience,” adds Favruzzo. The company is still considering two sites in Huntersville.

“I am thrilled to welcome Cefla America to the Town of Huntersville and to the Lake Norman region,” says Huntersville Mayor Jill Swain. “In addition to the jobs Cefla will offer our citizens, the fact that Cefla is an international company says a lot about this region’s ability to attract business and industry.” Town of Huntersville commissioners authorized negotiation of an economic development initiative grant valued at approximately $23,200 per year as part of a five-year incentive plan.

“It’s important to look at the big, long-term picture and the value of more jobs, a vibrant economy and a greater diversification of our tax base,” says Swain. “The Lake Norman region is actively competing with other parts of the country and state for new industry, and we recognize the value and necessity of incentives.” Cefla America’s has also received approval of a Business Investment Program incentive from Mecklenburg County.

Cefla Group’s decision to locate their North American headquarters in the Lake Norman region is another strong indicator of the high-caliber companies our area attracts,” says Craig Norfolk, Board Chairman, Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation. “Not only do companies like this make a huge investment in our communities, but their new businesses also stimulate a flurry of new investments from their employees and vendors,” Norfolk points out.

“When a new company of this magnitude comes aboard, the entire community benefits from the purchases the new company’s vendors, employees and customers make – everything from hotel stays and restaurant meals to building supplies, home purchases and groceries,” says Norfolk.

Cefla America’s almost $16 million investment in Huntersville includes establishing a 120,000 square foot office, lab, manufacturing and distribution facility, and a research and development showroom. The company plans to manufacture and distribute wood finishing equipment and dental equipment from the Huntersville location. Cefla Dental Group, one of the company’s four divisions, is a leading European manufacturer of dental units. For more information about Cefla America, visit www.ceflaamerica.com.
