Memorial scheduled for James Scarlett

A Celebration of Life for James Scarlett, 45, the CEO of Scarlett Inc., who died April 12 when the plane he was piloting crashed in a wooden area of Tennessee.

The memorial has been scheduled for Sunday, April 21, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m (EDT) at the Thousand Oaks Golf Club, 4100 Thousand Oaks Drive Northeast, Grand Rapids, MI 49525

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made In memorial of James Scarlett to help support James' two sons, Tucker and Quin.

Scarlett of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was born on April 22, 1978, to Jim and Bonnie Scarlett in Lansing, Michigan. After graduating from Forest Hills Central High School in 1996, he went on to earn degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration at Michigan Technological University. In 2002, James met Amanda (DeBoer) and they wed on July 18, 2009. They have two children, Tucker and Quinlan.

James succeeded his father and grandfather, working tirelessly to continue the success of the family business, Scarlett, Inc. Together with his friend and business partner, Chris Timmer, they built a team and reputation recognized throughout the industry. James was a remarkable leader, cherished friend, and mentor to many within the company and beyond. His absence will be deeply felt by all. James was a force of nature. A man of many interests and a collector of hobbies, he shared countless adventures with so many dear friends along the way. Above all, James’ family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Sharing his passions and experiences with his boys was of utmost importance to him.

Along with his loving wife, Amanda, sons Tucker and Quinlan, beloved dog, Stella, James is survived by his parents, Jim and Bonnie Scarlett, brothers, Ryan and Mark Scarlett, sister, Kelli Scarlett, mother- and father-in-law, Garret and Carolyn DeBoer, and sister-in-law, Carly DeBoer.
