Top Shelf Design Awards winner named

The Mountain Modern Wine Cellar by Darryl Hogeback of Savante Wine Cellars won Best of Show in the Top Shelf Design Awards.

This year’s Top Shelf Design Awards Best of Show prize goes to Darryl Hogeback, Savante Wine Cellars, who will receive $500 as well as a Top Shelf Design Awards plaque. Best of Show is awarded to the project receiving the highest score from the judges. Hogeback also took home the top prize in the Wine Cellar category for “Mountain Modern Wine Cellar.”

According to Hogeback, this project was designed to be the centerpiece of the homeowner's love of entertaining and passion for wine collecting. The white oak modern wine cellar features complex curves as well as storage and entertainment space.

"Nestled with access from the lower floor bar and gaming area and by concrete spiral stairs up to the main floor kitchen and dining, this wine cellar presents an elegant welcome to the celebrations within. The center dining and tasting area allows for a comfortable experience of storytelling and traveling back to the remembrance of each bottle's vineyard," he said.

All Top Shelf winners and honorable mentions were celebrated April 28 at a reception on the terraces of the San Diego Convention Center during the 2022 Closets Conference & Expo. The event was sponsored by Rev-A-Shelf.

In addition to the Top Shelf Design Awards, the winner of the Young Wood Pro competition winner was announced at the show.

The Top Shelf Design Awards are given annually to honor designers for their creative closet and home organizational designs.
