Robatech's EdgePro adhesive application system can help achieve of optical zero joints.

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – Robatech, a Swiss-based manufacturer of adhesive application systems, will present the EdgePro coating head, plus an adhesive application system with a collaborative robot (cobot) at the Woodworking Machinery & Supply Conference & Expo.

Robatech’s EdgePro digital system and dedicated coating software precisely controls the amount of adhesive – EVA, polyolefin, or PUR hotmelt – that is applied to the edge of a panel with repeated accuracy at the touch of a button. The result is the achievement of optical zero joints, the ultimate quality standard.

“Today, customers are looking for integrated and automated solutions. The trend is clearly toward digitalization," says Robatech’s Industry Manager Florentin Cioranu. "The more process data that can be generated and used, the more automated production runs.”

Robatech’s vision of a digital future for edgebanding operations includes developing the integration, storage, and analysis of data concerning adhesive application by the overall system. Those capabilities will facilitate increased efficiency of production and lower the customers’ TCO.

Robatech is also investing in the research and development of cobots to automate manual gluing processes. While this is not widespread in the wood industry, Robatech envisions that it will surely become of increasing interest in the future.
